What can I do to improve?
REREAD EVERYTHING!
As boring and repetitive as it sounds, it is the best way to make sure you did not miss information and to gain new understanding. Sometimes taking a break for a minute or two and then rereading the question/passage is very helpful. The break resets our brain and our thinking so we can have a fresh start when reading the question/passage again.
So you think you are done?
Guess again! A good reader, writer, and mathematician checks over his/her work before putting it away. Check over your answers and double check that they are correct.
But how do I do that Mrs. Donovan?
Ask for help!
One of the most helpful and beneficial things you can do as a fourth grader is to ask for help. Ask someone at home to help you. If that is not an option, then ask Mrs. Donovan first thing in the morning. Mrs. Donovan won't know if you struggled with the homework unless you ask for help.

- Find your answers or evidence in the reading passage that support your thinking.
- Use the inverse (opposite) operation to check that you did your calculations correct.
- Read your answer aloud. Does it make sense? Did you miss a word? Do you have a sentence that goes on forever?
